Review: Choowy Goowy

Two days ago I tasted the best cookies I had ever had. A friend at work had received these cookies in a glass jar as a gift and I asked if I could taste them. The jar looked interesting and the cookies inside looked tasty so I took a cookie and tried it. It was soft, fresh, inviting and just fucking heavenly. I asked my friend where I could find these cookies since I never noticed them at Sultan Center or any other supermarket and she replied telling me she would ask her friend who sent them to her. A few minutes later I found out that Choowy Goowy is a place in Kuwait that makes and delivers cookies to your home or office. She showed me the glass jar the cookies came in and pointed towards a tiny message on the label which said “For a refill call 2626559″. I quickly picked up the phone and dialed the number to find out all I could about this interesting service.
This is basically what I found out. Choowy Goowy is a local creation, 100% made in Kuwait. I spoke to the owner who’s recipes the cookies are made from and he was very nice and polite. He spoke good English and explained to me how they originally started off in 2002 with Arabic icecream. They created a service called Booza Booza which delivered iceream to your home but since icecream is a summer product they needed a winter one also and this why in September of last year they started Choowy Goowy. Choowy Goowy makes 5 kinds of cookies, the regular Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Cookies, Cinnamon Cookies, Cookies with Macadamia and finally double chocolate cookies. A jar with a dozen cookies inside costs KD2.5 except for the double chocolate which costs KD3.5. If you have a jar and want a refill its 500fils cheaper so KD2 or KD3 depending on which cookies you order. They deliver two times a day, before lunch and in the afternoon, that way you get a fresh batch of cookies whenever you order them.
I placed my order yesterday night and told them I wanted my cookies the next day at 7PM since I would have come home from work by then. You don’t have to call a day ahead though, a fellow employee called them up in the morning and asked to have the cookies by noon and they were delivered to her without a problem. I ordered the regular chocolate chip for KD2.5 since I think the double chocolate at KD3.5 is over my cookie budget. The driver had some problems finding my building (I actually had to run down the street after his van when he missed my house) but since it was his first time I didn’t mind. I told him to remember my place the next time because I would definitely be ordering again.
We were in the middle of episode 13 of Prison Break when the cookies arrived so the timing was perfect. I quickly snapped a few pictures of the jar and then proceeded to quickly open it and let Nat have a taste of these cookies since she had only heard about them from me but never tasted them yet. Within 10 minutes I had eaten 6 cookies while Nat had eaten 2, I would have eaten more but there were only 4 left and I wanted to save some for later. The cookies were amazing. They taste similar to the Fuddruckers cookies except without the nutty flavor which I really dislike. The Choowy Goowy cookies are the best cookies I have ever tasted and the fact that this is a local creation makes me appreciate it a lot more.
Even though these cookies are the best in Kuwait I would have to give them a 4 out of 5 because of the price. Without the jar a dozen cookies cost KD2, thats double the price of the Fuddruckers cookies. On the other hand you are having the cookies delivered right to you which is a big plus and I would have to say these cookies taste atleast twice as good as the Fuddruckers ones. I would really really recommend everyone to try these cookies, they are seriously amazing. Choowy Goowy have the best cookies in Kuwait, give them a call on 2626559.

Update: The owner sent me a message saying that the reason the cookies cost more then your average cookies is because they are made with the best quality ingredients. He also stated that in Fifth Avenue New York there are some places that sell a dozen cookies for $50 and they are always sold out. Finally the cookies are also trans fats free.

looks tasty, will order some and tell you how they turn out
It looks completely pointless to me actually order cookies worth 2.5 KD. Of course New York is one of the expensive cities specially the Fifth Avenue. It is seriously not worth paying 2.5 Kd for a dozen cookies. You might bake them at home with the dough available at co-op. I am glad walmart has a lot of stuff once can use. Anyways my opinion. You are quite fond of food mark by the way
Something to dream of tonight.

BTW, the photo reminded me of Miskan.com
and it looks like taken with your 50mm lens, right?
And just how many cookies did you get for writing that glowing review ;)
YOU LIE!
You were on the phone with me when the cookies came! Well the guy calling to find where you house was. You even had me on hold!
Mark, Yes these cookies are the best! I love the double chocolate ones. You are right…they are defenitely better than FR cookies. Thanks for the phone number…Now that I can save a trip! …cool!
fucking amazing
Nibaq I didn’t lie. The cookies didn’t come when I was with you on the phone. The cookie guy CALLED me when we were talking on the phone asking for directions.
idip yeah the picture is very miskanish :) i used my D70 with my 50mm lens for the shot. I took the picture on one of my desks under a desk lamp. Appreture was 1.8 and shutter speed was 1/50.
Link the owner, im sure youll get a few jars for free :P
hmmm yummy that would be cool since I only have 2 cookies left now!
yum yum, I’m going to order some!
fucking hell mark thanks a lot! the is like the perfect thing to buy my girl on valentines! i am already picturing the choco covered panties mmhmmmm :droooool:
ah yeah valentines is coming up. this would be better then a box of chocolates..
I’ve tried the cookies at a soft marketing event few months ago..the owner is a hard working Kuwaiti, very humble and really trying his best in establishing a trusted brand professionally.
I think the prices are very cheap & reasonable having this cookie size and quality. I even used the beautifully packaged cookies as a gift for all of our neighbors for Eid el Fitr and they loved it.
What assures how successful and fast growing is this bakery is that they are running at full capacity. The delivery might take some time as they don’t compromise quality and freshness of their cookies.
I really support this bakery and advise them to go expand and go public ASAP, specially when this is a 100% Kuwaiti product, from ingredients, recipes, baking and packaging.
Mohammed,
You are correct! you can get cookies as cheap as you want. The taste however can go down with the price. That is basic economics. If the cheaper cookies with cheaper taste and ingredients suits you then good for you.
Aside from the taste and price, we have to admire this kuwaiti team of what they have accomplished.
I don’t know but some people go that extra mile when it comes to food and mark happens to be one of them .lolz
im gonna order 2day from them , thx mark ..
you have 2 try the cookies from fuds its soft and fresh !
:)
mark, im ordering 2 dozens today.. should i mention ur name? :P to get discount
[...] I just got a phone call from the Choowy Goowy delivery guy. I am getting 5 jars of cookies delivered to me before 5:30 courtesy of the Choowy Goowy owner. I will try all five flavors and then write a mini review of each and post them online. Did anyone here order the cookies after I reviewed them last time? How were they? [...]
I guess that you might have started something of a cult following! Choowy Goowy world domination! I am becoming more and more interested in only eating food that is made with ingredients that are not over-processed, so am looking forward to trying them out. What I love more than anything is that the product is ‘homemade’.
They should deliver milk with that …
in the old fashioned bottles

[...] I got a phone call yesterday from the owner of Choowy Goowy cookies, he wanted to reply to my post titled “Choowy Goowy Waiting List“. Basically it turns out the reason why I was told it would need two days for the cookies to get delivered was because the Choowy Goowy bakery was being renovated and they had stopped all orders for 1 week. The day I called asking for cookies they had just started delivery again and they had a long list of backorders they needed to complete. Part of the reason for the renovation is so they could accept customers who want to pick up the cookies themselves. [...]

[...] I just got my Choowy goowy few days back, ow sorry to disappoint you Choowy Gowwy lovers, it wasn’t what I expected at all. I thought it would taste like something I have never tasted before, any way it worths a try though. I know u would say it’s lame to get cookies from kuwait while am in the US. the world home of cookies, but if u had looked at Mark’s review you won’t blame me. [...]
[...] I really wasn’t expecting the food to turn out good because when I think healthy and low fat I think of stuff like the veggie wrap and lettuce wrapped sandwiches which I don’t find appetizing at all. But the grilled chicken sandwich with the hot melted cheese is definitely the thing I would order the next time. The brownies I think are the best I have had and knowing that they were low fat doesn’t make me feel guilty for having them. The cookies… well you know where my heart is on that one. I think Nat enjoyed the food more then me since she ate more then me (a first). I always get pissed at her since she doesn’t eat much and now I know her secret, just add the word low fat to her meal and watch it all disappear. [...]
My name is Evita. This is my first time to blog on this website. I was so surprised to read all the interesting notes on Choowy Goowy cookies, because I just ordered a batch yesterday! and yes they are pretty good. If you’re into cheesecakes that taste Just like those from Cheezecake Factory in the States, then just gotta try the cakes from “Simply Delicious”.. I tried them at my friend’s place and I fell in love! I also tried their cookies with coffee and they tasted like Mrs. Field’s. WOW I’m so impressed at the stuff you can find by accident. As I’ve been told, the owner is American who’s married to a Kuwaiti, and they are serving their local market and by word of mouth. If anybody knows the number .. let me know??

[...] I’ve been trying to order some Choowy Goowy cookies for the past week but it’s been kinda hard since I’m in Ahmadi and they don’t always have the flavors I want and they’ll only deliver if I order min. 10KD stuff from them so I’m probably going to go and get them from the place. Supposingly they are really good! Infact supposed to be the best in Kuwiat! According to Mark from 248am: Two days ago I tasted the best cookies I had ever had. A friend at work had received these cookies in a glass jar as a gift and I asked if I could taste them. The jar looked interesting and the cookies inside looked tasty so I took a cookie and tried it.
